Terms of Service
Effective September 5, 2026
Using Koda
Koda is an educational coding app. You are responsible for your account, the code you write, and using the service lawfully. Do not misuse the product, interfere with the service, reverse engineer protected systems, or attempt to bypass subscription, rate limit, or security controls.
Who Can Use Koda
You must be at least 14 years old to create a Koda account, and the year of birth you give at sign-up must be accurate. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Koda only with the permission of a parent or guardian who accepts these terms with you. We may suspend or close an account that does not meet this requirement.
Accounts
You must provide accurate account information and keep your credentials secure. We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the service, violate these terms, or create security, payment, or legal risk.
Subscriptions
Koda offers Basic, Pro, and Ultra memberships with monthly and annual billing. Basic is $5 monthly or $45 annually. Pro is $9 monthly or $81 annually. Ultra is $20 monthly or $180 annually. Annual pricing equals nine monthly payments, so the three-month saving applies on every annual renewal. Taxes and localized store prices may change the checkout total. Web billing is handled by Polar; native billing is handled by Apple or Google through RevenueCat. Access starts or changes only after the payment provider confirms the subscription.
Trials, Renewal, and Cancellation
Every membership tier and billing cadence opens with a 7-day trial for an eligible first-time member. The checkout shows eligibility, the trial end, and the next charge. Unless cancelled before that deadline, the selected membership automatically renews at its stated cadence. You can manage web billing through Polar and native billing through the applicable app store. Cancellation normally preserves access through the already-paid period.
Refunds
Refunds follow the payment provider that took the money. For a web membership purchased through Polar, contact support@dekoda.site within 14 days of a first purchase and we will refund that purchase in full; after that window, and for renewals, refunds are discretionary and normally handled as a cancellation that keeps access through the paid period. Memberships purchased in the iOS App Store are refunded only by Apple, and memberships purchased in Google Play are refunded only by Google, each under their own policies β Koda cannot reverse a store charge, but will help you file the request and will not withhold access while it is being reviewed. Statutory withdrawal and consumer rights in your country apply on top of this policy.
Statutory Right of Withdrawal
If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract; in Korea the period for a distance contract is 7 days. Starting a trial or a paid membership begins the supply of digital content immediately, with your express consent and your acknowledgement that, to the extent the law that applies to you allows the right to end early, your right to withdraw ends once that supply has begun. Where the law that applies to you does not allow the right to end that way, you keep it for the whole statutory window and we will refund you under it. Nothing in these terms reduces the mandatory consumer rights you have where you live.
Membership Access
Basic includes only the Full-Stack Web Developer and Python & Data Developer paths and their course lessons and materials. Pro opens 27 courses, four paths, 64 guided projects, and standard learning features. Ultra includes everything in Pro plus the AI Tools Mastery path and its six courses and 12 guided projects, verified path certificates, and the highest included AI allowance. A path certificate already issued to you is not withdrawn if you later move to a lower membership. Koda may add content or features later; material reductions or pricing changes will be communicated as required by law and the billing provider.
AI Points
Basic, Pro, and Ultra currently include 200, 1,000, and 2,500 AI Points per month respectively. AI Points are service-usage units, not stored money: they have no cash value, cannot be transferred, do not roll over, and reset each calendar month. 1 AI Point β one AI answer with the standard model; advanced models may use more. Point usage can vary by provider, model, request size, and caching. Koda may temporarily limit or refuse a request when it would exceed the remaining point balance.
Learning Content and AI
Course content, mascot art, UI, and generated Koda responses are for learning use inside the product. AI responses may be imperfect; verify important code and decisions yourself.
GitHub Companion
The GitHub companion is optional and read-only. You authorize Koda to inspect workflow metadata for one selected repository so it can verify learning milestones. You remain responsible for the repository and its collaborators. You may revoke the connection at any time. Koda deletes the retained metadata and uninstalls an installation when it is not shared by another connected learner; GitHub organization owners continue to control shared installation and repository access.
Availability
We work to keep Koda reliable, but the service may change, pause, or be unavailable. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages from using the app.
Governing Law and Disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Korea, and a dispute about them is heard by the court of the Republic of Korea that has jurisdiction over the seller's registered place of business. That choice does not take away the protection of the consumer law of the country where you live where that law cannot be waived by agreement: you keep those rights, and where that law says so you may also bring your claim in the courts of your own country.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms as Koda changes. When we do, we publish the updated version with a new effective date and, for changes that affect your rights or what you pay, tell you by email or in the app before that date. Continuing to use Koda on or after the effective date means you accept the updated terms; if you do not accept them, stop using the service and cancel your membership before it renews. Material price changes are announced in advance as required by law and by the billing provider that takes the payment.
